Enable group mode on course
Go to the course to be edited and go to Administration > Course administration > Settings tab.
Scroll-down and expand the Groups tab. On Group mode select Separate groups on the drop-down menu. On Force group mode select Yes.
Click on Save and display button.
To set group overrides on activities a group must have been already created on the course. You can refer to the Manage a group guide for the group creation.
List of activities that can use group override
Below is the list of activities that can use the group override function:
Set group override on assignment
Open the assignment to set the group override on.
In this tutorial we'll use Assignment 1.Go to Administration > Assignment administration > Group overrides.
Click on Add group override button.
Set the following to override the assignment availability options and set it for the selected group only.
Override group
Allow submissions from
Due date
Cut-off date
Click on Save button.
TIP: You can click on Save and enter another override button to save the previous options and create a new override settings for another group.
Set group override on quiz
Open the quiz to set the group override on.
In this tutorial we'll use Quiz 1.Go to Administration > Quiz administration > Group overrides.
Click on Add group override button.
Set the following to override the quiz availability options and set it for the selected group only.
Override group
Require password
Open the quiz
Close the quiz
Time limit
Attempts allowed (Suggested option is 1)
Click on Save button.
TIP: You can click on Save and enter another override button to save the previous options and create a new override settings for another group.
Set group override on lesson
Open the lesson to set the group override on.
In this tutorial we'll use Lesson 1.Go to Administration > Lesson administration > Group overrides.
Click on Add group override button.
Set the following to override the lesson availability options and set it for the selected group only.
Override group
Password protected lesson (Optional)
Available from
Deadline
Time limit
Provide option to try question again (Suggested option is No)
Maximum number of attempts (Suggested option is 1)
Re-takes allowed (Suggested option is No)
Click on Save button.

Edit group override settings on activities
Open the activity (Assignment, Quiz or Lesson) you want to edit the group override settings.
For this guide will be using the Assignment 2 activity, you can still follow this guide if your editing the quiz or lesson activity.Choose the setting of the type of activity to be edited:
Assignment
Quiz
Lesson
Find the group override to be edited, on the right-side click on the edit icon.
Change the setting that you want and click on the Save button.
Delete group override settings on activities
Open the activity (Assignment, Quiz or Lesson) you want to edit the group override settings.
For this guide will be using the Assignment 2 activity, you can still follow this guide if your editing the quiz or lesson activity.Choose the setting of the type of activity to be edited:
Assignment
Quiz
Lesson
Find the group override to be edited, on the right-side click on the edit icon.
Click on the Continue button to confirm the deletion of the group override setting.
